                        Robert Mugabe 

                        Robert Mugabe, born this day in 1924, was the first prime minister (1980–87) of Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia), its president from 1987, and a black nationalist of Marxist persuasion who established one-party rule. 

                       
                 
                 

                        Malcolm X assassinated 


                               
                        1965: Malcolm X, who articulated concepts of racial pride and black nationalism in the United States, was assassinated this day in 1965 and became an ideological hero after the posthumous release of The Autobiography of Malcolm X.
