Skype already works with video, and it seems stable I was video chatting with my family for 5 hours without droping the skype video 2. Crossover really cool I played GTA 3. 3D desktop really smoot compare to VISTA 4. My wife almost not notice she is using Kubuntu as I tailored all GUI to be look a like to vista heheheh I JUST LOVE IT! Additional to my Ubuntu (not the Kubuntu) other stand-by PC 1. Samba rocks (personal/family file server) 2. LDAP link to Xandros (office server) works well 3. Dovecote(IMAP)/Postfix/Fetchmail/Spamassasin works solid since a year. 4. Ktorrent works perfect (download more movies) Hope to see you on Saturday :) More people makes better bridge. :) Regards, Kutch # -----Original Message----- # From: hasmith [mailto:hasmith@hal-pc.org] # Sent: Tuesday, November 20, 2007 7:19 PM # To: Kutch Villasor; 'Andy Fletcher' # Cc: 'Nigel Gourlay'; list@qglug.org; shivinhameed@yahoo.com # Subject: RE: [QGLUG] RE: Meetup on Suggestion # # Interesting to see some action amongst Doha Linux users. What do you mean by a Linux show-up? Install-fest would be nice. We can have 2-3 distros and install it for whoever wants to do it. We should also cut as many Live CDs as possible and distribute to let people experience Linux. My choice would be Ubuntu 7.10. How much time do you expect volunteers to spend on the event? I mean we can show different distro to that event and let people experience live using Linux. ie: 1. Linux for Gaming 2. Linux for Exchange Server Replacement 3. Linux for Office Suite 4. Linux for Security 5. Linux for Kids 6. and more This will enlighten more student/people what Linux do. For my side I can bring 2 CPU 2 Laptops for the event. But if the Sponsor or Host will provide that will be great. I'm waiting for Nigel to drop a line for Host/Sponsors. Ey maybe you are intereted coming this Saturday 10am at beanery just have coffee and chat with mates. BTW try the new released Ubuntu 7.10 really rocks. Here are stuff that I was happy, I use KUBUNTU (KDE works like microsoft) so 1. Otherwise I would love to meet with you guys. I know I could pick up some good tips. I have run Linux on my old computers for a long time, and now I think I would like to put a nice fast computer together to run Linux on. Linux runs well on my old HP Pentium III, 733mghz, so I want to see what it will do on a brand new machine. I may buy the parts here, or I might buy them back home when I am out for the Christmas break. If you have any suggestions for a good desktop platform to run Linux on, let me know. Either available here or in the states. I could pick up the insides in the states and buy a case here. Hope you have a good get together Saturday morning. Please let me know when you decide to get together next. Hudson -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
